I’ve always loved looking at these buildings whenever I pass by. They are rather rundown and look quite out of place now on our waterfront but I still find them fascinating. A 2021 Chek news article states that the Northern Junk warehouses buildings were “constructed in the 1860s during the Gold Rush era” and have been left vacant for 43 years. Sitting on waterfront property, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time until these buildings will be redeveloped so I’m glad I got to draw it before then!
